The museum "Tula Antiquity" has presented a new mini-exhibition "Amazing Stories of chests and boxes." Visiting it will allow you to learn interesting facts about the history of chests and boxes in Russia .

Many years ago, when in the house of the Russian peasant there were no beds, wardrobes, chest of drawers, nightstands, dressers and other furniture, chests and boxes were there and played an important role. Both fiancee's fortune and groom's inheritance were stored there. And in the small chests-caskets the most valuable possessions were locked.

The exhibition "Secrets of Tula masters" presents different storages for keeping things. In the windows and in the open access various chests and boxes, cases and boxes, melochevnitsy, and boxes for needlework, salt shakers, tueski are demonstrated. And near them there are toys, painted in the traditional style of "splint". How did people "pump chests," what is a "bride's slide", why folklore pictures are called "popular prints" - the visitors will learn these and many other facts from this exhibition.

The author of toys in traditional painting in the style of "splint" in the museum "Tula Antiquity" is a young artist Galina Vostrikova, Tula. The paintings of her works present both Russian folk stories - "Pancake Week", "Carols", "Easter", traditional popular prints - horsemen, birds, animals, and author's fantasy plots.

The new exhibition can be visited with the excursion from 10.00 to 17.00 every day.
