The Sled Dog Races on the Field of Russian Glory

   For the first time in history, the Dog Sled Racing occurred on the Kulikovo Field.
    On March the 2nd more than 70 participants, 150 dogs and 500 visitors came to the First Russian Battlefield to see and take part in the Sled Dog Racing. This type of competition became sensation for Tula Region. Visitors could see such race dogs as Siberian huskies, laikas, Alaska malamutes, Greenland race dogs and of course to see the racing itself. The trail was made around the legendary wood of Green Oaks and its length was from 3 to 10 kilometers (1.84 to 6.2 miles) depending on the category. During the races all the guests could drink tea from the samovar, taste Russian baranki (bread-ring) take part in national Russian games and of course to take lots of pictures with race dogs. From now on such races will be held on the Kulikovo Field annually, every first Saturday of March.
